Évelyne Laniel is an actress, director, therapeutic clown, and Executive and Artistic Director. Trained at the Francine Côté School of Clown and Comedy in 2015, and later with various masters in theatre, clowning, and puppetry, she has developed an artistic practice where physical theatre, improvisation, contemporary clowning, and object theatre intersect.
Founder, Executive Director, and Artistic Director of Empire Pagaille, she creates works that explore the complexities of our society with humour and a critical lens. Presented in Quebec, across Canada, and in France, her solo performances rely on laughter, movement, and the clown universe to offer a playful yet incisive perspective on the world.
In parallel with her artistic practice, Évelyne works as a creative consultant and director for various productions, including La Rébellion du Minuscule by Théâtre du Renard. Since 2017, she has also worked as a therapeutic clown with the Dr. Clown Foundation, applying her skills in healthcare and care settings to foster moments of encounter, play, and human connection.
Her career unfolds between stage work and social engagement, driven by the belief that art can build bridges, open spaces for dialogue, and transform the way we see the world.
